Podcasting Services at WASPPodcasting is a method of sending files to subscribers. It is using the RSS technology. The files can be just about anything but they are usually audio and video. In addition some interaction is possible such as embedded URI that allows the user to follow a link from within the podcast.
Since the user subscribes to a feed, like a university lecture-series, the user doesn't need to do anything to find and retrieve the latest release; it is done automatically. The user then plays the program at her/his convenience: on a desktop computer at home, on a laptop in the University garden with friends or on an iPod on the train or bus.
The Western Australian Supercomputer Program invested into providing podcast production and streaming services. These services are accessible and free for the IVEC members.
